Good morning or evening depending. It occurs that if you are reading this blog and don't know me well you might think I complain about everything here or that I don't like it. Really that isn't the case, I actually like it - its VERY challenging! I've traveled a great deal, well, ALOT, and lived other places...I just like to find the humor in things. And, when you leave the US you find that things in other countries don't work like they do there, not in a bad way, just different.
For instance, yesterday. We planned for Lauren and I to take a taxi into KLCC, meet Ken for drinks and dinner then go to the Chinese night market. We planned to leave our house at 4:00 by taxi. We tried to book the taxi early in the day only to be told " on demand, call 3:45". Okay, Ken, and I, started calling at 3:45. We called no less than 6 different companies all of which "no car available". There was no Mr. Ken wife working this situation! If you could see the number of taxis here ...well, it defies belief that none were available. Finally, we are awarded with one. At 4:30 he was dispatched out to pick us up. Oh, and I failed to mention that we have nine phone jacks in this house but only one works, half the time....He called at least three times that the phone didn't let me answer it just kept ringing, finally at 5:00 it let me answer, he was lost. I text Ken, because I couldn't call out, to call them to give further direction (I'm still a little flimsy on Jelan this and Jelan that). The house phone rang several more times...its pretty annoying to pick up a ringing phone and say Hello, Hello while it continues to ring...At 5:30 we just wanted to call the whole thing off only to have Ken call them again and be told taxi right there, around corner. At 6:00 we got in the cab. At 7:00 we got out of the cab. So, essentially, it took us 3 hours to get from our house to KLCC which is a 20 minute ride. Not to mention about 7 unsuccessful phone calls and at least 10 text messages. I was not amused Thursday but I certainly am today! It's just funny.
We did have dinner and we did go to the Chinese night market where Lauren purchased ALOT of "designer" purses as gifts, we purchased these:
To watch the monkeys in our "backyard". Below are some pictures of the Chinese Night Market. They had electronics, purses, shoes, DVD's (and LOTS of them), and other wares. They also had food which actually looked quite appetizing...maybe I will go back have dinner, find and bargain for that camera we keep talking about on facebook!
